The bridge navigational watch alarm system monitors bridge activity and detects operator disability that
could lead to marine accidents. The system monitors the awareness of the Officer Of the Watch (OOW) and
automatically alerts the Master or another qualified person if for any reason the OOW becomes incapable

of performing the OOW's duties. This is achieved by
series of indications and alarms to alert first the
OOW and, if he is not responding, then to alert
Master or another qualified person. Additionally, the
BNWAS provides the OOW with a means of calling for immediate assistance if required (emergency call).

All periphery equipment (reset units, alarm panels) have been connected directly to Terminal Board Module.
No additional terminal board or distribution boxes are required.

El sistema de alarma y vigilancia en el puente de navegación BNWAS está diseñado según la resolución MSC .128/75, controla la actividad del puente y detecta las deficiencias del operario que podrían dar lugar a accidentes marítimos. El sistema controla el estado de alerta del Oficial de Guardia (ODG) y, automáticamente, alerta al Capitán o a otra persona cualificada si, por alguna razón, el ODG se halla incapacitado para desarrollar sus tareas. Esto se consigue mediante una serie de indicaciones y alarmas para alertar en primer lugar al ODG y, si no responde, al Capitán o a otra persona cualificada. Además, el BNWAS proporciona al ODG un medio para solicitar asistencia inmediata en caso necesario (llamada de emergencia). El sistema se conocía antiguamente como Sistema de Alarma de Hombre Muerto. Con ajustes de tiempo concreto, el sistema puede controlar la actividad del personal en la sala de máquinas.
